Dick O'Connor Scorebook collection
Scope and Contents
A collection of 10 scorebooks and 3 reporter's notebooks kept by Dick O'Connor, 1961 - 1979. The scorebooks are primarily the home games for the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics. They also include spring training games, American League Championship games, and World Series games. The three notebooks are not dated and have various notes and travel expenses.
Vol. 1 1961-1964 includes Bobbie Richardson "The Catch" October 16, 1962; Juan Marichal no-hitter, June 15, 1963.
Vol. 2 1964-1966
Vol. 3 1966-1968 includes Catfish Hunter's perfect game, May 8, 1968; 1966 WS games 1-2; 1967-68 Spring Training.
Vol. 4 1968-1969 includes Gaylord Perry's no-hitter, September 17, 1968; 1969 Spring Training.
Vol. 5 1969-1970 includes 1970 Spring Training.
Vol. 6 1970-1972 includes 1971-72 Spring Training; 1971 ALCS games 1-3.
Vol. 7 1972-1973 includes 1972 ALCS games 1-5; 1972 WS games 107; 1973 Spring Training.
Vol. 8 1973-1975 includes 1973 ALCS games 3-5; 1973 WS games 1-7; 1974-75 Spring Training; 1974 WS games 1-5.
Vol. 9 1975-1976 includes Ed Halicki no-hitter, August 24, 1975.
Vol. 10 1978-1979 includes 1978 WS games 1-2, 6; 1979 Spring Training.

Biographical / Historical
Dick O'Connor covered baseball and other sports for the Palo Alto Times and later the Peninsula Times Tribune from 1956 until his retirement in 1984. He worked as an official scorer for both Giants and Athletics games through last season.
