Scope and Contents

A collection of ephemeral items, organized into 27 different subjects. Subjects include professional and amateur baseball leagues, teams, and players. Also includes spring training, regular season, post-season, and All-Star games. Other subjects include Negro leagues, women in baseball, international teams, scouts and scouting, passes and credentials, and lineup cards.

Biographical / Historical

According to the Society of American Archivists, ephemera is defined as "Materials, usually printed documents, created for a specific, limited purpose, and generally designed to be discarded after use". Ephemera includes such things as advertisements, tickets, brochures, passes, and receipts. A repository may collect ephemera as examples or for historcal preservation. Individuals often collect ephemera as mementos or souvenirs because of their association with some person, event, or subject.
