Scope and Contents
This collection contains the papers of Tom Ferrick while he was scouting for the Kansas City Royals. This is a collection of scouting and draft reports between 1966 and 1994. There is one folder of correspondence to Tom Ferrick from various players and one folder of miscellaneous items such as schedules, passes.

Biographical / Historical
Tom Ferrick played in the minors from 1936 to 1938 and made his big league debut with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1941 and was then sold to the Cleveland Indians. Ferrick enlisted in the Navy in December 1942 and was discharged in January 1946. After retiring as a player, he was a long time coach and scout. He was a Cincinnati Reds coach from 1954 to 1958 before spending 1959 on the Philadelphia Phillies staff. He was then with the Detroit Tigers from 1960 to 1963 and the Kansas City Athletics in 1964 and 1965. He later was a Kansas City Royals scout from 1968 to 1987 and was instrumental in the club's decision to draft George Brett.--Baseball-Reference.com.

BA MSS 329 Ticket collection: Two tickets to George Brett's last game dated 9/29/1993, photocopy of the tickets are in Box 3, Folder 5; two tickets to Royals vs Red Sox, Aug 17 and 18, 1991; two tickets to Notre Dame vs Navy, Oct 30, 1993; two tickets to Royals vs Yankees, Aug 14 and 15, 1991; one ticket to game 5 of the 1993 World Series.
