National League Meetings, Minutes, Conferences, and Financial Ledgers collection
Scope and Contents
This is a collection of National League minutes from 1876, 1899 to 1966. These include annual meetings, board of director meetings, mid-summer meetings and schedule meetings. Also included are minutes from special meetings such as board of arbitrations and special board of directors meetings. Included with most of the minutes are table of contents. Financial ledgers, cash books and assessment ledgers are also part of this collection. There are 17 (20 inch) records of three game broadcasts, May 3 and 4, 1951, Cubs vs Braves, Phillies vs Cardinals.

Conditions Governing Access
There is a 50-year restriction on access to financial data and a 65-year restriction on minutes from date of creation. Release dates will be noted on each folder. Viewing materials does require an appointment. Please contact the Giamatti Research Center,

Biographical / Historical
The National League was founded on February 2, 1876 under the leadership of businessman William A. Hulbert of Chicago. The original charter members were Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Hartford, Louisville, New York, Philadelphia and St. Louis. The original league represented four western and four eastern cities and was set up with clear rules and policies, standard player contracts, a code of conduct and a prohibition on the sale of intoxicants in parks under the league’s jurisdiction.

Abstract
This is a collection of National League minutes from 1876, 1899 to 1966 and financial ledgers from 1902 to 1995. There is American League financial information in three of the ledgers. This collection also includes 17 recorded disks which have the game broadcasts of three games.
