Emilie Mulholland collection
Scope and Contents
The photographic materials document the pictorial history of Emilie Mulholland's experiences working for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Pittsburg Pirates. The materials date from circa 1890 to 1976 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1946 to 1967. The collection includes photographs of the Milwaukee Braves, Boston Braves, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants. Materials include photos of teams, groups, and individual players, both in and out of uniform. Photos include players, managers, and other team personnel. There are personal photos, taken by Mulholland, as well as promotional and news media photographs. The collection includes prints, notebook, and a scrapbook.
The manuscript materials include Mulholland's resume just prior to graduating from Temple University. As well as responses from potential employers. There is personal and professional correspondence, and information relating to the "Kellner's Kolleague Fan Club". There a multiple notebooks and scorebooks for games between 1948 and 1964, as well as game tickets. The scorebooks dated from 1955 to 1964 were scored by Mulholland as the Pirates publicity director. A large scrapbook includes clippings, tickets, correspondence, and various ephemera items kept by Mulholland.

Biographical / Historical
Emilie Mulholland was a volunteer and later hired as an usher for the Philadelphia Athletics until 1954. From 1955 to 1964, she worked in the pubic relations department for the Pittsburgh Pirates. She then was employed at Temple University and became the Associate Vice President for University Relations. She remained an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants fan.

Abstract
The Emilie Mulholland collection contain photographs, correspondence, a scrapbook, souvenir programs, tickets, scorebooks, scorecards, vinyl recording albums, and art prints compiled and/or created by Mulholland during her tenure in the public relations office of the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 to 1964.
Arrangement
There was no particular order to this collection when received. Photographs are foldered by subject matter. The manuscript materials are organized by subject matter and in chronological order. Tickets that were loose are located in BA MSS 329.

Appraisal
No materials were removed during accessioning. In processing the manuscript materials, newspapers and clippings were removed, as well as duplicate copy of "Baseball Made Plain" booklet, 2 copies of a 1964 Pirates poster, 11 x 17 in., multiple copies of Mulholland's resume. Ephemera was removed from a large scrapbook with clippings and foldered with associated scrapbook page. Items were glued to pages and are now loose, such as tickets, correspondence, airline tickets. Clippings directly related to Emilie Mulholland were kept. Negatives were unidentified and appeared to be personal photos of Emilie; they were disposed of.

Processing Information
In 2023, the manuscript papers were processed. Items were placed in acid-free folders and document boxes, storage box, and oversized file folders. The scrapbook with clippings, tickets, correspondence, and other ephemeral items, is to be dismantled and foldered maintaining its original order.
In 2025, photographic materials were placed in folders, and boxes according to subject matter.
