Scope and Contents

This collection covers a wide variety of players, primarily from the New England area. It includes correspondence from many people and organizations that Thompson reached out to. There are newspaper clippings, statistical information, and biographical information. There is a spiral notebook listing colleges and universities and what players attended, and which players went on to other professions such as lawyers, doctors, etc. The first draft of "The All-Time College & Major League Register", April 1995.

Biographical / Historical

Dick Thompson was a nurse at the Veterans Administration medical centers in Brockton and West Roxbury, MA for 32 years. He started writing about baseball in the 1970s. He was a SABR member from 1979 until his death in 2008. He wrote many articles and a book titled "The Ferrell Brothers of Baseball", published in 2005.
