Scope and Contents

This collection is primarily newspaper clippings, articles, and copies of transcripts from divorce proceedings and an interview with Edd Roush. The clippings are organized by subject matter such as Chase's time with the Chicago White Sox, Federal League, Cincinnati Reds, and his involment with the Black Sox scandal.

Biographical / Historical

Hal Chase was a first baseman in the major leagues from 1905 to 1919. He was a player/manager for the New York Highlanders from 1910-1911. He is best known as the most corrupt player and one of the best defenseman.
