Scope and Contents

Twenty-one notebooks containing handwritten play-by-play accounts of World Series games played between 1948 and 1969. Olla recorded information such as home field, weather, time of game, attendance, umpires and whether each pitch was a called strike or a swing and a miss.

Biographical / Historical

Olla Westgate lived in Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada and recorded the World Series games, play-by-play, so her husband Ralph Westgate could read about the games when he returned home from work. She listened to the games on the radio from 1948 to 1952. Between 1953 and 1969, she recorded the games from television.
