Veeck, Bill, 1990-2005

 File — Box: 02, Folder: 28

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

A collection of articles, clippings, contracts, photographs, and financial reports related to the career of the Veeck family and their involvement in the business of baseball. Most related to Michael Veeck's career in the minor leagues. It shows Michael Veeck's flare for promoting games and getting people to the stands to watch the Fort Meyers Miracle team and the St. Paul Saints. There are clippings and articles relating to Bill Veeck, organized in chronological order, related to the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Browns. There are files related to "Selig vs USA", 1982-1983, purchasing the Seattle Pilots and moving the franchise to Milwaukee. The key issue in this case was whether there was proper allocation of the purchase price to the franchise and the cost of the player contracts.
